aprons on parade ...
Tags: Vintage, aprons, vintage fabric, old books, cottage style decorating, thrifting
My daughter stopped over during her lunch break yesterday and noticed that my mannequin looked very fetching in a pretty blue vintage apron.  She was flying out the door on her way back to work when she glanced into the spare bedroom and saw the mannequin posing pretty by the window.  Kelly loves vintage like her mama.  She hesitated at the top of the stairs and said, "Oooh, I love it!"  Kelly's enthusiasm got me thinking that maybe you'd like to see a few of the vintage aprons I've collected over the past few years too.  Here's a few aprons on parade ...

Isn't the sweetheart neckline pretty?  The big pocket is shaped like a tulip.  And it's in new, never worn condition.  I love it when I find vintage aprons in such great condition.

Lots of pockets on this little half apron.  And I love the stack of books featured on the vintage fabric.

I remember buying this apron at an estate sale.  It's ready to be embroidered.  The embroidery transfers are printed on the fabric and it's edged in blue calico.  What a labor of love it would've been for a woman to embroider an apron like this. Anybody interested in giving it a try?  It's heading to my etsy shop.

I love these colors!  Again, lots of pockets across the front and cheerful rickrack trim.  Another brand new apron with the tag still attached.  I imagine aprons made great gifts and maybe some were just too pretty to spoil by actually using them.

I love this one with the ruffle on the bottom and vibrant color scheme.  Do any of you use aprons?  My daughter does.  And she has the cutest pair of pink rubber gloves.  It's so fun being a girl!

I've got lots more I could show you but they'll have to wait for another time.  They make such a happy statement in the kitchen, don't you think?  I gave Kelly a new Vera apron for her bridal shower and I made Jeremy one out of camouflage fabric.  Of course I can't find a photo, though I know there is one!

The days continue to get away from me.  I feel like I'm up to my eyeballs in work but I can't seem to make much progress.  I did pay all my hospital bills today and mailed in the paperwork for a NYS real estate tax credit that I've been procrastinating on.  I've did a lot of "desk" work today as well as got caught up on the laundry.  All good stuff, for sure.  Tomorrow I'm taking my mom to get her back brace.  Never a dull moment!

Those are really beautiful, I love the one that's ready to be embroidered. I collect them also. I don't know what it is about them but I just can't pass them up when I run across them.

Oh, Lynn. Aprons are my favorite but I have never, ever found any so beautiful! Wow, I'm in love with them. My mama and granny always wore an apron. An apron was used to wipe a nose, brush off a skinned knee, transfer a hot pan of buscuits from the oven, and the pockets of granny's were always filled with a hankie to dry a tear. Oh My, how these bring back memories. Thinking of you and enjoy hearing from you! Blessings and Prayers, my friend.

Lynn, I , too, love vintage aprons! They remind me of loving childhood days around my mother. She always wore aprons. I have a sheer one she used to wear packed away somewhere. I wore it a few times. I love the lightness and airy feeling of the vintage aprons. Thank you for sharing these...I can see Kathleen, at Yesteryear Embroideries, doing remarkable embroidering on the white one. Have a happy day, Marianne xo

Oooh. I love vintage aprons and one of my daughters is a particular fan. I'm trying to make her some vintagey styled aprons for her birthday, which is past, but it's hard to get them sewn as a surprise when she lives here! She works tomorrow, so maybe then...

You sound like a younger version of myself. I too love every little piece of paper, pens, books. I was so lucky to get my mother's Baby of Mine book dated 1915 and many of her old 1927 recipe books and embrodery things. I am 71 years old and I still love everything old, every old family story too.I have huge books of all these written down with photos. So no need to tell you how much I love your blog. Thank you so much.
