Love Shack Shower Curtain

I just got home from five fun-filled days in Norfolk, Virginia.  My buddy Sally, who also happens to be my daughter's mother-in-law, lives in a beautiful beach community right on the bay.  Kelly and Jeremy were going to visit for the weekend so I decided to tag along.  Sally and her husband Jon affectionately refer to their carriage house as the Love Shack and I was happy to call it home during my stay.

Like me, Sally loves to sew.  And she's good!  So I just had to share with you the shower curtain that she designed and made for the Love Shack bathroom.

The walls are painted a pretty soft yellow.  The fabrics are all new (not vintage) and purchased in the Norfolk, Virginia, area.  I love her selection and the happy vibe they project.

The chrome grommets are an attractive and sturdy feature that will ensure that this sassy shower curtain lasts for many years.

There's a queen-size bed in the main room that Sally will dress in these same fabrics only she plans on making the quilt from large squares - a patchwork quilt with a modern twist.

It was fun to talk fabric and decorating and sewing and trends with my dear friend.  We did plenty of shopping and spent a particularly pleasant rainy afternoon shopping local thrift stores and specialty shops including Chartreuse in Virginia Beach.  If you're in the area, you'll want to stop by, especially if you love old, chippy furniture, architectural elements, porcelain signs, and fun beach-cottage design pieces rich with history.  Sally bought two old beer crates complete with spider webs and dirt!

And I hope the Love Shack shower curtain project inspired you like it did me.  When choosing elements for the Love Shack Sally said, "It's all about color!"  I can't wait to see how she continues to decorate this happy place.  I'll keep you posted!

I love the shower curtain. So pretty and cottagey. Guess that is not a word, but it is a good one for now.

COL...love the "Love Shack"...nice touch. I am so happy you were able to have some real R&R...oh, how you deserve it, Lynn. The shower curtain is wonderful. The fabrics are so cheerful and fun. Certainly sturdier than the one I have from the Dollar Tree...hanging with a wing and a prayer....?

If anyone wants to recreate this look but isn't as apt on the sewing machine there are two lovely shower curtains available over on Garnet Hill's website. There is the Emily and the Half Moon Bay. Both are lovely and give this same look! :)
