Today was another great day to stay inside and enjoy all that the week between Christmas and New Year's has to offer. I have to say I love this week. The responsibilities and obligations of Christmas are over and it's finally time to rest, recuperate, and relax. Today I'm enjoying no make-up, numerous pots of tea, more cookies than I care to admit, and no agenda other than to watch the snow fall. Heaven!
I confess I've let my house "go" since I started working at the consignment store. I've spent some time the last couple of days reclaiming it. I was embarrassed on Christmas Eve when my kids came over because it was in such a state of disarray. They didn't care at all - it was my own unfulfilled expectations that got to me. Even our meal was pitiful. We're already laughing about it.
So I tackled my office and re-arranged things on the bookshelf since I don't have my Etsy shops open at the moment. I boxed things up and took them to the basement, filed Christmas receipts, and stashed the wrapping paper back in the attic.

Anybody else find the management of "paper" overwhelming? I have so much to shred that I'm afraid I'll burn out the shredder so I don't do it. Maybe I'll wait till spring and have a bonfire! Much more efficient!
And I decided I have to stop buying old books. I find them hard to resist. It's not like I read them - though I have been tempted. I have all these dreams of using the vintage pictures and color-plates in beautiful artwork ... who am I kidding? Myself, I guess! So for now, I'll look at them fondly and continue to dream. For me, 2013 is going to be about fulfilling some dreams. It's about time. How about you? I hear dreams do come true.
Watching the snow fall and dreaming ...
